Day 01:  Arrive Delhi. Reception and assistance on arrival. Transfer to hotel. Time permitting visit the tombs of the erstwhile rulers of Delhi. Humayun's Tomb, the Qutab Minar and the Crafts Museum. Overnight Delhi.

Day 02: Visit Old Delhi with its winding streets and crowded bazaars. The Jama Masjid which is the largest mosque in India as well as Red Fort or Lal Qila, which are in the old part of the city. Overnight Delhi.

Day 03: Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Leh( Ladakh). On arrival at Leh, our representative at the airport will receive you with a warm welcome typical of the area. Your transfer to the hotel will have been taken care of. Due to the beautiful sights seen from your aircraft window, it is extremely tempting to begin exploring immediately. However, it is imperative that some time is given to your body for acclimatizing to the increased altitude and rarified air. Ideally spend the day in your hotel. The time will be utilized for briefings and to get to know your guide, other team members and checking your equipment. There will be enough time later to enjoy the many local handicrafts shops, bookshops, trekking equipment stores, bakeries and restaurants. For the first few hours you may be a little breathless and perhaps have a slight headache but this is normal as long as you do not over-exert yourself and induce more acute high altitude sickness. A minimum of two days is advised for proper acclimatization. Have a refreshing overnight sleep at your hotel in Leh.

Day 04:  The second day of your stay in Ladakh, during your acclimatization process, is spent in and around Leh. This includes a visit to Sankar, Shanti Stupa and the Leh Palace. These are all located in and adjoining Leh. Sankar is about 02 kms from Leh and the Monastery belongs to the Gelukpa School of Buddhism and is a branch of Spituk Monastery. Shanti Stupa near Leh on a hilltop was built by the Japanese for World peace and was inaugrated by the Dalai Lama in 1985. After a break to catch your breath and grab a bite, you visit Phyang & Spituk. Phyang is 17 kms west of Leh and the remarkable Monastery is built on a hilltop that belongs to the Dregungpa order. It was founded in the 16th century AD and about 50 monks reside here. The Spituk Monastery is 07 kms to the Southwest of Leh and was founded in the 11th century AD when the monastic community was introduced. Return well in time for a relaxing evening and refreshing overnight sleep at your hotel in Leh.

Day 05:  The third and final day of your acclimatization is spent exploring some of the fascinating monasteries, palaces and fortresses slightly more distant from Leh. These include Shey, Thiksey, Hemis & Stok. Shey is 15 kms south of Leh and was the seat of power of the first King of Ladakh who constructed the hilltop Fortress. The fort ruins can be seen above the present palace. Shey Palace was built in the beginning of 17th century AD. The main attraction in the monastery here is the 3-storey image of Buddha Sakyamuni made of copper guilt. Thiksey Monastery is another 03 kms from Shey and is arguably the most beautiful of all the Monasteries in Ladakh. Hemis is 43 kms to the south of Leh. The Monastery was built in 1630 and is the most famous, largest an richest Monastery in Ladakh. It belongs to the Dukpa order of Tibetan Buddhism. It's monastic festival is famous worldwide and will be held in June 2004. Stok is 14 kms south east of Leh. The present day Royal Family resides here at the Stok Palace. The Palace and Museum were built in 1825 after the Zorawar annexation of Ladakh. At present the Palace museum has a collection of royal dresses, King's crown, old weapons, etc, which is worth a visit. Return in time for a relaxing evening and refreshing overnight sleep at your hotel in Leh.

Day 06:  : It is now action time and you are driven to Spituk, which is approximately a 20 minutes drive from Leh. From here you begin your trek to Zinchen (3200 mts), which under normal circumstances should take between 4 - 5 hours. The trek begins from Spituk by crossing a bridge and walking southwest of the river Indus. The trail passes through barren but beautiful countryside for about 3 hours until the Indus enters a narrow gorge at its confluence with the Zinchen. From here on the trail climbs steadily through the Rumbak Valley, which is lined with trees, providing sufficient shade for stops to catch your breath before you reach the tiny village of Zinchen consisting of just 4 or 5 houses. The evening can be spent soaking in the fascinating landscape, meeting the few locals or just relaxing at the camp, which is your halt for the night.

Day 07 - Day 14:  The following week is spent trekking and exploring the areas in and around the picturesque Rumbak valley in search for the Snow Leopard. Besides the Snow Leopard, this area is also host to various species of rare birds and mammals. The birds can mostly be seen along the water bodies, while the animals like Ibex seem to prefer the towering cliff faces on either side. The overnight stay is at a comfortable campsite, where exciting experiences can be exchanged with your naturalist and trekking guide. Ensure you go well equipped for the cold night winds in this area as temperatures here can drop dramatically even in summer months and can drop below minus 100 celsius.

Day 15:  After hopefully a successful one-week search for the Snow Leopard, you trek back to Lato, where your pickup shall be waiting to take you to Leh. Spend the night in a comfortable hotel, relax, rejuvenate, and say farewell to the mountains.

Day 16:  Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Delhi. On arrival in Delhi spend a few hours shopping for Souvenirs before transferring to the international airport for your flight home.
